How to crop a WhatsApp DP
- Open the photo. A 640 × 640 square appears with a dashed circle — the part WhatsApp shows as your DP.
- Move and resize the square until the face is comfortably inside the circle.
- For a status picture, choose Status in the WhatsApp presets: a full-screen 9:16 crop at 1080 × 1920.
- Press Crop Picture, then Share to send it straight to WhatsApp on your phone, or download it.

WhatsApp asks for a square picture and then shows it as a circle, both in chat lists and on your profile. The corners of the square are never seen. That is why the crop here stays square — the file WhatsApp expects — while the dashed circle shows exactly what will be visible.
